Are your rugs vintage or new?
Most of our rugs and kilims are vintage, typically dating from the 1960s–1980s. We also occasionally stock newly woven pieces, made using traditional techniques by skilled artisans. Each product description clearly states whether a piece is vintage or new.
What does “kilim” mean?
A kilim is a flat-woven rug, made without a pile. Kilims are lightweight, durable, and traditionally handwoven on a loom. Many of our pieces feature techniques such as slit weave, which creates their distinctive patterns.
Are all your pieces handmade?
Yes. Every item at Louloom is handmade, using traditional weaving or embroidery techniques. Because of this, small irregularities in shape, pattern, or colour are part of the charm and authenticity.
Why do some rugs look slightly uneven?
Vintage and handwoven rugs are not machine-perfect. Slight variations in width, edges, or symmetry are completely normal and a sign of genuine hand craftsmanship.
Are the rugs cleaned before sale?
Yes. All rugs are professionally cleaned or carefully washed before being listed, unless stated otherwise.
What condition are vintage rugs in?
Our vintage rugs are in good vintage condition. Signs of age such as gentle fading, softened wool, or minor wear are expected and add character. Any notable flaws are always mentioned and photographed clearly.
Will the colours look exactly the same in real life?
We photograph rugs in natural light and avoid heavy editing. However, colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen. If you’d like additional photos or close-ups, feel free to message us before purchasing.
How do I care for my rug?
Vacuum gently (no rotating brush)
Rotate occasionally for even wear
Spot clean with cold water if needed
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight
For deeper cleaning, we recommend a professional rug cleaner.
Do you accept returns?
Because our rugs are one-of-a-kind, returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery, provided the item is returned in the same condition. Please contact us before returning so we can assist.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship internationally. Shipping costs and delivery times are calculated at checkout. If you’re outside the UK and have questions, just get in touch.
Can I reserve a rug?
We’re sometimes able to offer short holds. Please contact us as soon as possible if you’d like to discuss this.
Are your cushions provided with an insert pad
No, everyone likes their cushion filled in different ways! Dunelm, ikea and John Lewis do some very good duck feather pads. If its a plump look you are looking for we would suggest you go for a good quality pad or one that it a size bigger than the cover. For a slumber, relaxed look, jysk and ikea have some good ones which aren't over filled.
